CANANDAIGUA USBC ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES 2024-25 SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS
We would like to congratulate Asher Merz and Briana Hershey who are this season’s recipients of the Canandaigua USBC Association $1000 scholarship. Each person had exceptional qualifications.
Merz is a Senior at Marcus Whitman. She had a GPA of 93 and is planning to attend Clarke University in Iowa and major in Art Education. Merz was also accomplished on the lanes with a 179 Saturday Morning average. She also qualified for states on the composite team and was an All Greater Rochester All Star selection.
Hershey is also a Senior at Whitman and had a GPA of 89. She is planning to attend Roberts Wesleyan University and major in Early Childhood Education. Briana had 151 Saturday Morning average.
Asher and Briana will be members of each school’s women’s bowling team. Coach Jon Barkley has been one of their coaches since they started bowling. “They are both great individuals on and off the lanes. They work hard no matter if it’s bowling, life or school. It’s been a pleasure to have them in our program and wish them the best in the future.
The Canandaigua USBC awards two $1000 scholarships each season. It can be used for college or trade school. We encourage seniors each season to apply.

PRE-BOWL POLICY
ACCEPTABLE EXCUSES TO PRE-BOWL:
Family emergency, outside activity or work.
Any other reasons require the approval of your league coach.
PROCEDURE FOR PRE-BOWLING:
1.
Schedule a time to pre-bowl with Roseland Bowl
2.
Pay at the time of pre-bowl. If you do not pay before you begin to pre-bowl, you will NOT be allowed to bowl.
3.
Fillin pre-bowl score sheet completely with the following:
Name
Date the pre-bowl for
League
Reason for pre-bowl
Scores and total for three games
Score sheets not completely properly will NOT be accepted and the scores will NOT count.
4.
Return score sheets to Roseland Bowl front desk upon completion of pre-bowl.
ANY QUESTIONS WITH REGARD TO PRE-BOWLS SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO YOUR LEAGUE COACH.

Code of Conduct for Athletes, Coaches and Parents
As Players……
Work Hard, Listen and Learn.
Treat teammates, opposing players, coaches and parents with RESPECT (this also includes other bowler’s equipment). There is no tolerance for bullying, verbal or physical abuse.
Be proud (and humble) when you and your team succeeds. When you lose, keep your head up, and learn from the experience.
Be responsible for your actions.
Dress appropriately for bowling.

No tank tops with exposed spaghetti straps.

No underwear exposed.
ALL Electronic Devices are prohibited from bowling approaches. Use of these devices is limited to settee area and carpeted area only.
As Coaches…
Provide a safe, healthy, and learning environment for your teams. Give every player the opportunity to succeed. Care for your athletes as an individual.
As a representative of the coaching profession, treat all players, coaches and parents with respect. Physical and verbal abuse will not be tolerated.
When things are not going your way step back, look and listen. Sometimes silence speaks louder than words.
As Parents…
Participate in your child’s learning experience, Understand the game and its purpose
Promote the team above the individual. Provide constructive congratulations, not destructive criticism.
Treat ALL players, coaches and parents with respect. Physical and verbal abuse will not be tolerated.
Enjoy the sport and the friendships that come with it. Enjoy the game but remember when bowling is over, win or lose, your player is just a kid.
